La Rumba

Michael Rajab

Michael Rajab

As the founding member of La Rumba, Michael Rajab created a successful outlet in which to express his love of Flamenco. He brings a wealth of musical experience to the band, developed across a number of genres:

"I come from a musical background.  My father is a Lebanese drummer and always played gigs as far as I can remember. My mother loved to sing and always listened to Arabic and Flamenco music. I loved it all from a young age, and picked up percussion by watching my father teach students at home: I guess you could say it's in my blood... I picked up the guitar and the rest is history.

I loved it as a child, and I will always love the beauty, the joy, and the sorrow of Flamenco."
